My girlfriend suggested that, along with the Charmander line, I collect Riolu and Lucario items. I couldn't agree more because I absolutely LOVE Riolu and Lucario (and they are a BIG reason I got back into Pokemon >w<). I don't care too much about condition as far as the older figures, but I don't want a figure that has the paint on the nose scraped off or that is broken (unless both parts are present and can be easily glued back together).
